Alice offers her slot.
From her phone, she asks qualified colleagues to cover from 14:00 to 18:00. She keeps the rest of her shift.

An ordinary Saturday
Alice is on call for the weekend but needs Saturday afternoon off. Here is how her team takes over.
Thursday · the request
From her phone, she asks qualified colleagues to cover from 14:00 to 18:00. She keeps the rest of her shift.
Friday · confirmation
Both colleagues are notified. The call recipient for those four hours is updated along with the rota.
Saturday · the handover
At 18:00, they return to Alice. The manager can review the calls and the hours covered by each person.
Alice · Technician
Need someone to cover?
He will receive calls during this slot.
The rest of the weekend stays in your name.
Plan for the unexpected too
You decide what happens next. The rota determines who to call; your rules determine what follows.
In this example, he has 25 seconds to answer.
If there is no answer, the call moves to the next colleague in your call sequence.
If nobody answers, voicemail takes over and the team is notified.
With personal voicemail protection, 1shift keeps calling the designated colleagues instead of stopping at someone’s voicemail.
Unfilled slots are visible on the rota. Notifications can alert managers or qualified colleagues at the times you choose.
Your team, your way of working
1shift connects your on-call arrangements to the phone line your customers, colleagues or patients already know.
A customer calls about a broken lift, heating system or installation. The technician changes; the number stays the same.

The origins of 1shift
In 2016, the creator of 1shift developed an initial tool to organise on-call cover for IT teams in France and Belgium. That tool is still in use today.
1shift is a new product informed by that experience: last-minute changes, handovers between colleagues and the need to know who actually receives the calls.
Software published in Belgium by Samplay SRL.
Talk to us →Getting started
Your rota, your phone line, your particular requirements. These are the starting points for our first conversation.
Who takes the shifts? What hours? What should happen if nobody answers? We show you the workflow in 1shift.
A number provided by 1shift, or a connection to your phone system. Together, we review how to keep your number and the constraints of your setup.
We check the roles, the rota and the path of calls with you before switching your on-call service over.
Tell us about your team size, phone lines and call volume. Together, we clarify the service cost, phone connection and support arrangements before going live.
Before we talk
Calls are directed to the numbers of the people on call. They use their usual phones. The rota and cover requests are accessible from a phone or computer.
A connection to your phone system is possible. How you keep your number depends on your setup and provider: we review this with you before you get started.
Call forwarding can work while still requiring manual steps every time something changes. 1shift connects the rota, cover arrangements and calls to reduce those steps. It also makes unfilled slots and hours actually covered visible.
You choose what happens next: calling another colleague, transferring to a switchboard or offering voicemail, for example. The system manages that sequence; it does not guarantee that someone will be available to answer.
In thirty minutes, we start with your current rota and phone line to show how your team could hand over with 1shift.
